Checklist of online notarization requirements: ID, camera, and connection

What You Need for Any Notarization Session

Three required items: Valid Government-Issued Photo ID — You must present a current, unexpired government-issued photo ID during your session. KBA Identity Verification — You must pass a short Knowledge-Based Authentication quiz before connecting with your notary. Required by Florida law. Device, Camera & Internet — A computer, tablet, or smartphone with a working webcam, microphone, and stable internet connection.

Valid Government-Issued Photo ID

Current, unexpired. Must match the name on the document being notarized.

KBA Identity Verification

Short quiz required by Florida law. Completed before connecting with your notary.

Device, Camera & Internet

Computer, tablet, or smartphone with webcam, microphone, and stable internet.

Knowledge-Based Authentication (KBA)

What are KBA questions?+
KBA questions are drawn from public records and credit bureau data. They are multiple-choice and based on your personal history, such as previous addresses, vehicles you may have owned, or financial accounts.
How long does it take?+
The KBA quiz typically takes 2 to 3 minutes to complete.
Must be completed individually+
KBA must be completed by the signer themselves. No one else may assist you in answering the questions.
Important: You Have 2 Attempts to Pass KBA+
You are allowed two attempts to pass the KBA verification. If you fail both attempts, your account will be locked for 24 hours as required by state regulations. This is not a permanent block. After 24 hours, you may try again. Support is available 24/7.
