What you need (Florida)
- A current Florida notary public commission in good standing.
- Online notary registration with the Florida Department of State (course, $25,000 bond and $25,000 E&O policy, per s. 117.225) — or the intent to complete it; we’ll point you to the steps.
- A computer with webcam and microphone, reliable internet, and a quiet private space.
- Care and a calm manner on camera — most signers are doing this for the first time.

- Who can apply?
- Florida notaries public in good standing who are registered — or ready to register — as online notaries with the Florida Department of State. We're rolling out to other states; apply anyway and we'll tell you when your state opens.
- What does Florida require to be an online notary?
- Under section 117.225, Florida Statutes: a current Florida notary commission, a course on the duties and technology of online notarization, a $25,000 bond, a $25,000 errors-and-omissions policy, and registration with the Department of State naming the RON platform you'll use. If you're not registered yet, apply and we'll point you to the steps.
- Do I need my own RON platform or software?
- No. Sessions run on the Rush Notary platform, which handles identity verification, the video call, the electronic seal and the journal. You list Rush Notary as your RON service provider with the Department of State.
- How do I get paid?
- Per completed session. Rates and the payout schedule are shared during onboarding, before you take your first session.
- What equipment do I need?
- A computer with a webcam and microphone, a reliable internet connection, and a quiet, private space for sessions.
- Is there a cost to join?
- No. Rush Notary charges notaries nothing to apply or to be on the platform. Your state's registration, bond and insurance are between you and the state.
- How long does approval take?
- Most applicants hear back within two business days. Onboarding takes about an hour.
