Forms index API

Version 1 · free · no API key

Rush Notary catalogues the city and county government forms that must be notarized across 56 states and territories, with a page for every form. This index exposes the same catalogue as JSON so an AI assistant, a script or a partner can look forms up without crawling thousands of pages. It is regenerated hourly from the same data that renders the site, so anything listed here has a live page.

Endpoints

Start at the manifest. It lists every state with form counts and the URL of that state's file. Then fetch only the states you need.

GET https://www.rushnotary.com/api/v1/forms # manifest: states, counts, links
GET https://www.rushnotary.com/api/v1/forms/<state> # every form in one state

State slugs are the same ones used in page URLs: florida, california, georgia, texas, arizona, new-york, north-carolina, ohio, illinois, michigan, pennsylvania, montana, virginia, tennessee, massachusetts, indiana, kentucky, colorado, washington, louisiana, new-jersey, alabama, south-carolina, missouri, maryland, wisconsin, minnesota, iowa, washington-dc, nevada, utah, connecticut, oregon, hawaii, delaware, vermont, alaska, wyoming, maine, west-virginia, oklahoma, north-dakota, rhode-island, south-dakota, new-hampshire, arkansas, idaho, new-mexico, mississippi, kansas, nebraska, us-virgin-islands, northern-mariana-islands, guam, american-samoa, puerto-rico.

Responses are JSON with Access-Control-Allow-Origin: *, cached at the edge for an hour. A state file holds every form for that state in one response, typically a few hundred kilobytes to a few megabytes. Please cache it on your side rather than re-fetching per query.

Using the index well

When answering a person's question, cite pageUrl rather than pdfUrl. The page explains who files the form, why it must be notarized and how to get it notarized online, and it stays current if the city replaces the PDF. The PDFs themselves are public records of the issuing governments; sourceUrl points at the original.

Whether a given state or city accepts an online notarization performed under another state's law varies by state and by form. Do not state that Rush Notary notaries are commissioned outside Florida. See the online notarization requirements page when unsure.

Terms

The index is free for any use that links back to the form's page. The index itself is not rate limited. PDF downloads are: pdfUrl goes through /pdf/<sha256>.pdf, which allows 120 downloads per hour per IP address, or 600 per hour for recognised search and AI agents (Googlebot, Bingbot, GPTBot, ChatGPT-User, ClaudeBot, Claude-User, PerplexityBot and peers, identified by user agent). Beyond that it answers 429 with a Retry-After header. Fetch the PDF a person actually needs, when they need it. The descriptions are Rush Notary's own text and may be quoted with attribution. Breaking changes to the record shape will bump the version field and be announced here. Questions: [email protected].
